I think AC has good gamepad support for controlling the cars. I use settings from this guide, try them too:But most important is to understand race track racing and know how to take the corners, when to brake and turn, always try to touch the corner apex and continue that line until the corner exit, where you meet the outside kerbs. Sometimes you don't need to do such big radius if there are quick fast corners one after the other, so make sure you carry the most speed for the bigger straight road. And read here about weight transfers and grip: The same thing applies here in the game.
It is possible, I was able to manage some pretty fast laps at Magione in the Zonda R when I tested my PS3 controller, similar times to using a wheel at that track. I did turn the cars built traction control profile up with a gamepad though, but no harm in that. Harder to control throttle with a gamepad. It's much better with a wheel, you just have more control but it is perfectly playable with a pad. One thing though is that it's still very difficult, how playable it is often comes down to your ability. Some guys can drive as fast as a professional racing driver with a gamepad, but it takes a great deal of skill to do that. I like the classic configuration of the first GT Playtation. I could fix this with Xpadder. I chose the Assetto Corsa settings to play with keyboard and assign these keys to buttons on the PS2 controller USB.
So I accelerate with 'X' brake 'SQUARE' handbrake 'CIRCLE' etc etc oh dear lol you should not try online driving like that grab a wheel a dfgt is £50 pre owned and ac is then 10x the game. They are working on this part, because will release AC for consoles in 2016, so improvements made to the game to be more complete will also be available on PC.In terms of driving with the gamepad, the support is very good.In-game controller support is top-notch, however the in-menu controller support might be an issue due to how the launcher is implemented. It can be easily worked around with www.xpadder.com though.
